Fitzpatrick's Jellystone Park
Description:
Fitzpatrick's Jellystone Park is 60 miles from Chicago. We thought we were in for just another weekend of camping, but we were super-impressed with all the fun we had at Jellystone Park. The adults relaxed in the outdoors and the kids kept busy with planned activities and swimming.

Highlights (i.e. best things to do, memorable moments, etc.)
Of course the best highlight is sleeping in a tent. Who doesn't love that? But there were so many other great moments of our weekend that made this camping experience stand out from all the others.

We woke up early in the morning and after breakfast the kids ran off to check out the morning cartoons. Swimming was at the top of their list so they swam for about an hour or so. They got out of their wet suits and it was off to ceramics and a limbo contest before lunch. That's right, camping without the adults needing to entertain the kids every moment!

The adults got a break since we felt comfortable letting the kids go off on their own to walk around and participate in the activities. One of the funniest moments of the weekend was the greased melon toss. One night, two of us went on the hayride while two of us just hung out at camp. After a long day of playing we settled in for another night of sleeping under the stars. With all the goofy games and practically unlimited swimming, the kids were very happy the entire weekend.

Quick tips/suggestions:
Do: Bring the dog if you have one. The campsites are large and grassy and the dogs have a lot of room to do what they do best. Don't: Forget a grill rack. The sites are equipped with fire pits but there is no grill rack on top. If you plan to cook anything with a pan, you will need a rack to place the pan on. There are a few varieties for you to purchase if you don't have one to bring.
Don't: Worry about bringing along all the kids games to keep them busy. There will be so many activities for them you will need to call them back to your campsite to get some food. If you bring anything, bring a few outdoor toys like soccer balls, Frisbee or baseball and glove.

Best Way to get around:
Getting There: You should drive your own car, packed with your kids, dog, tent, bathing suit, running shoes, and enough food for the weekend.
Getting Around: The campgrounds are small and you can easily walk around the entire place. If you would like to leave the campgrounds and go into town for any reason, you will need to drive since the campsite is in the middle of cornfields.
